Ways these Broncos together with the malleable quarterback could end that Kansas City Chiefs' reign.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Live coverage features live text of Sunday's games on various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard on designated networks covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week of the football calendar and following recent discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, each surrendered their perfect starts.

Striking in those games were the amount of penalties both committed. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times so they kind of defeated themselves having led 17-3 entering the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this weekend.

However it was positive to see how Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to have the shortfall and then direct three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the game 21-17.

Denver have the top defender in cornerback their star corner. They rank number one in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, yet the Broncos prevailed in that contest.

They executed the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't necessarily sending extra defenders instead they might position two LBs in the 'A' gap before drop them out and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.

At the start of the season, it was noted on a program that the Broncos might emerge as the current year's dark horses. They finished the previous year well then did a good job of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?

Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has excelled big while recent RB JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

I love that head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

That shows that the Broncos represent a team aiming to prioritize the run, because you can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces opposing rushes while keeps you in positive down and distances.

This has helped QB the young passer, who entered the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw anywhere, however they lack the mobility as Nix. He has exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, and he is so athletic.

His strengths are his mobility, being able to pass on the run, and finding varied release points to deliver throws as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can deliver that layered pass over the middle and past defenders.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays a lot of composure in the pocket and isn't bothered by the blitz. He tries to avoid a sack whenever possible and is able pass under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.

If you consistently rush it eats up the clock and forces the opponent to stay in play extended periods, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defense has to cover the field vertically and horizontally. This proves draining.

The quarterback has bitten back at Payton during games sometimes and it seems the coach likes that fire, that he's such a competitor. I think it's exciting for him to have a young quarterback who's kind of like play-dough. The coach can truly develop him the way he wants to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.

Payton owns a Super Bowl and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the achievements Denver are having on offence is largely down to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with the QB aids make him what he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to help you through some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.

I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team strong enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're working better than most, which is a solid position to be in the AFC West. All they need to do is maintain this trajectory.

They excel at leaning into their strength, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they must do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they are the sole squad without a win any game.

Ever since the NFL began tracking turnovers in 1933, the Jets are also the first team to be without any turnovers in five outings, this is kind of shocking when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

After this Sunday's game, the Broncos have a manageable slate until their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the division.

It depends upon what version of the Chiefs they meet since Denver {beat|def
