Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered interceptor drone to enhance its air defences. Three initial producers have begun manufacturing, with 11 more preparing to set up production lines, the defence ministry announced this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Combat Conditions

The drones will be based on a nationally created system called “Octopus” designed to neutralize Iranian-made drones. The system underwent testing in combat and demonstrated successful “at night, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” officials stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of manufacturing as many as 1,000 interceptors daily.

Recent Attack on Kyiv Described as Calculated

The Ukrainian president described Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and brutal” after six people lost their lives and many others wounded in a wave of nocturnal attacks throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in the capital just after 12 AM on Friday, with Shahed drones quickly heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.

The president stated the country was targeted by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. Those killed had been at home in a block of flats on the capital's left bank when it was hit. Dozens of additional structures were damaged, including the Azerbaijani embassy.

Diplomatic Objection Following Embassy Damage

The Azerbaijani government announced it delivered a formal objection to Moscow's diplomatic representative this past Friday following the destruction at its diplomatic compound. The blast from a Moscow's missile destroyed part of the embassy’s perimeter wall and resulted in serious damage to the embassy grounds, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry stated. There were no personnel was hurt, and an official representative said the diplomatic mission in Ukraine was continuing to operate.

Russian Glide Bomb Manufacturing Experiences Major Expansion

Russia intends to manufacture up to 120,000 guided aerial bombs this year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official disclosed, among them 500 of an innovative, extended-range model that can reach additional urban centers. Russian forces were firing hundreds of glide bombs daily, with the previous month's average daily usage being approximately 170, according to official military statistics.

Kyiv's Attacks Target Moscow's Energy Infrastructure

Moscow's Black Sea port of the port city halted for a period oil exports on Friday – representing two percent of global supply – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv said its military had fired Neptune cruise missiles and deployed multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “as part of efforts to diminish the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces separately struck a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region overnight.

International Sanctions Affect Russian Oil Producer

The number two oil producer Lukoil announced on Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers regarding its foreign assets after last month’s sanctions from Western nations and the collapse of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal will be announced once conclusive negotiations are completed and required authorizations are secured,” Lukoil stated.

Zelenskyy Schedules Diplomatic Trip to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, on Tuesday to confer with lawmakers following his visit to Paris, the chamber of deputies disclosed. Zelenskyy will convene with deputies from all houses of the legislature throughout his stay, an official announcement said.
