Trump Welcomes Relatives of Injured Guard Members to the Presidential Residence
President Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the White House.
He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Gatherings across the state have occurred in their honor.
White House Call
The president said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed journalists. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Support
Attendees came together over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.
Both they had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to assist policing efforts in the capital.
Remembering the Soldier
“She was the individual that educators desired. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her previous school, stated to the media. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to help others.”
Service details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Measures and Policy Revisions
Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The event led the administration to pause asylum processing and cease granting visas to possessors of Afghan passports.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Bondi stated on a news show that she planned to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Memory of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had courage,” the governor addressed the crowd at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
