The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
