Recent Processing Facility Strike Demonstrates 'No Protected Areas in the Russian Deep Rear'
Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have hit the Russian Bashneft facility in the city of Ufa, positioned approximately 1,400 km from Ukraine, triggering detonations and a blaze, according to a source in the Ukrainian SBU.
This constitutes the latest Ukrainian security service deep strike in the region in the last month. Such operations show that there are no protected areas in the deep rear of the Russian Federation.
Ukrainian President Appeals to US President to Facilitate Truce in the Conflict
The Ukrainian leader appealed to President Trump to mediate a ceasefire in Ukraine during a telephone conversation on Saturday.
"Provided that a war can be stopped in a single area, then certainly other wars can be ended as well, encompassing the Russian aggression," the President said, commending the US President's "remarkable" Middle East ceasefire plan and calling for the US president to influence the Russian government into negotiations.
Moscow's Attacks Claim Victims in the Country
Strikes by Russia on Ukrainian territory killed at least five people on Saturday and cut power to sections of the south Odesa area, per authorities in Ukraine.
Two people were killed in a place of worship in Kostyantynivka when it was targeted, according to regional officials.
In the Russian border region of Belgorod, a lorry operator was fatally wounded by a Ukrainian strike, as stated by regional authorities.
Power Restoration Work in Kyiv
Work proceeded on the weekend to restore power in Kyiv, after Russian attacks.
Power had been recovered to more than 800,000 residents by the weekend and the biggest private energy company stated the main work to restore power was concluded though some outages continued.
Anti-Aircraft Actions and UAV Jamming
The Ukrainian air defences neutralized 54 out of 78 UAVs from Russia deployed towards the country overnight, the aerial defense command announced on the weekend.
The Russian defence ministry stated it intercepted 42 UAVs from Ukraine over its own soil.
Cuban Government Refutes Allegations of Providing Soldiers to the War
Cuba on the weekend denied American assertions it has deployed military personnel to engage in the Ukraine war, while affirming officials in Havana "lack precise details about citizens of Cuba" participating "voluntarily" or "within the troops of both sides".
The government department in Havana said twenty-six Cubans had been sentenced to prison terms from 5 to 14 years for participating as mercenaries since September 2023 when news spread of individuals being sent to the frontlines in Ukraine.

The program, a Ukrainian government program that urges enemy combatants to lay down arms, reported in spring: "Our information indicates the personal data of over a thousand Cuban nationals who enlisted with the Russian armed forces in 2023-2024."
The Cuban foreign ministry commented of those who might be participating: "It is irrefutable that not a single one have the support, allegiance, or authorization of the Cuban state for their actions."
