Liverpool's Star Extends Statement to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad after the uproar from his recent interview.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match after voicing frustrations and claiming his connection to the head coach had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”
Arne Slot has refused to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
He emphasized that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and it was business as usual,” he continued.
The midfielder also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “It's clear there are certain ways you can handle situations,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just sit out, then I think that’s concerning.”
Team Form
Liverpool's form have stayed unbeaten in the matches since the initial controversy. The player is convinced the forward's comments were never meant to destabilise the squad.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re gelling well as a team, playing well and starting to win games.”
