Followers Demand Custody of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of Ariana Grande are urging that a person who breached a fence and touched the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A viral footage shows the Australian man shoving aside media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the cast proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "released after being taken in", though court documents indicated that he was scheduled to be present on the following morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram feed features clips of him interrupting other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last winter.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is clearly a legal violation," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user remarked.
Fans Voice Worry Over Ariana's Safety
Numerous fans criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented one more response on Instagram.
Some attendees also questioned guards at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while others demanded digital services to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In videos circulating online, Grande seemed surprised when she was touched by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Hundreds of fans had gathered in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The movie, to be released on November 21, is the second of a two-film version of the acclaimed Broadway and West End show Wicked, which centers on the unlikely bond between two contrasting characters.
The show itself is a adaptation of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of 2024 in the UK, and scored 10 Oscar nominations, securing a pair for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
