19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a final set.

Moutet saved four early break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
